This thing is GREAT. Better than the Snugli or other items similar to that. In the sling, the baby's entire body, not just the trunk, is cradled against you, sort of like in the womb. It actually looks uncomfortable for the baby, but mine sleeps quite soundly in it.

Not only is it comfortable for both you and baby, there's enough material to provide a covering for nursing, unlike the snugli types.

It also provides mom with hands-free mobility.

And it's SO SO SO much better than lugging around a two-ton car seat! The baby is quite secure without additional support of any kind. It does take some getting used to. It took a while to figure out the right position for both carrying and nursing. So if you buy one, don't be discouraged if you can't figure it out right away. You'll love this thing!

it looks great BUT...

my baby just hated this. i tried it one way, then another, and i just felt that it holds the baby kind of awkwardly...i got an extra large, and it was kinda small....my baby at the time was 10pounds, and she got seriously pissed off every time i tried to get her in there...she was totally fine with the baby bjorn...but at 18pounds the baby bjorn is super snug (she is a VERY healthy 4month old now) so i can't even use that. i finally found the solution with the Ergo Baby Carrier...i like how the weight is distributed on the baby's bum....as opposed to the crotch area for the baby bjorn...check it out...it is wort the investment

Wish I had this sling when my baby was a newborn

Our son seemed to be the kind of baby who would have been feeling snuggly and secure if we had this when he was a newborn. It seemed as though, because he was not used to being carried in it from the first few weeks, he seemed to be a little bit Claustrophobic in it. By the time we got it he had grown so much bigger and my wife was not able to nurse him in it the way it is suggested for newborns. We will definately be keeping it for our next child, though.

Customer Review: Great for baby, not so good for Dad

What would I do without my Hotsling? My 9 week old baby has loved the closeness of being in the sling from the very beginning. When she fusses, this is the only sure way to get her calm and sleeping. With her cuddled up close to me in the sling, I can get work done around the house, go shopping or take a walk. My baby isn't comfortable in the Baby Bjorn yet, so the sling is an absolute lifesaver.
There are a couple drawbacks of this sling:

1. It is not comfortable to wear for long periods of time. After an hour or so, my back is starting to hurt.

2. It is not adjustable, so my husband can't use it, and it was a little tight in the winter when we were wearing big coats and wrapping the baby in blankets. I recommend ordering a size larger than you think you need - I am 5'2"/120 lbs and the size 3 is just right.

Next time, I might try an adjustable sling so that my husband and I can both use it.

Customer Review: Beware*** Back & Shoulder Pain

I bought this and paid around $40.00. I love the look and idea but this thing kills my back and shoulder. We didn't last one wal-mart trip. I couldn't imagine someone trying to make the day in it. I don't feel the hip carry is very safe and that is the only way my daughter would go for. If you bent over far enough she could slip out and walking up right I had to constantly ajust and my arm would go numb from the preasure on my shoulder because there is no way to have it close to your neck,,ouch
