Customer Review: Good sling - but choose size carefully!

I have two Peanut Shell slings -- one regular cotton and one microfleece. They're beautifully made and seem like a great concept, although my son isn't a huge fan of them. He's big for his age (two months) and complains all the time he's in there, despite being properly adjusted.

One cautionary note about the microfleece sling -- the sizing. According to the Peanut Shell charts I need a Medium sling, and indeed in the *regular cotton* sling, the Medium is a perfect size for me. However, the microfleece sling stretches tremendously once the baby is in it, making the sling *too large*. Suddenly it hangs way down, so that my legs bump it when I walk! Not the intended effect!

So if you're ordering the Peanut Shell in microfleece, I'd suggest choosing one size SMALLER than your recommended size. Otherwise you'll end up, like me, with a sling you can't use...

Customer Review: The best sling ever!!

I like sleek and simple baby products and got this in the black microfleece. Great sling! My baby and I like how we can use this from birth to 36 pounds in different positions. I've been toting him around in it from when he was about a month old. He didn't like it in the beginning, but I think it's just my baby--it takes 3 to 4 tries of a new product before he likes anything. I like how I can keep this one on all the time, blends in with the black shirts I wear and then I can pop baby in and out whenever I'd like to carry him. Make sure you have the correct size. I had the wrong size in the beginning and the fabric was digging into my shoulder and neck, and my arm would go numb. I walked outside everyday of my maternity leave with baby in it and everyone would comment on how cute and stylish the Peanut Shell Sling is. I like how it doesn't have any hardware and I can stick it in any of my bags when we travel. Love, love, love this and my Belle Baby Carrier!

Customer Review: Great for newborns

I really couldn't do without this for a newborn, am able to get things done while the baby cuddles up and sleeps. As they get older ( and bigger!) it does hurt my back. But well worth it for newborns!

I purchased this baby sling because of its adjustable strap. I put my son in the pouch when he was a week old. We both loved it from the start. He is 13 months old and we still use it regularly. Now, he can ride on my hip and both my hands are free. This is a versatile and comfortable sling for mom and baby. The lightweight material is great for any weather. I highly recommend this sling.

Customer Review: Easy to Use and Fashionable

I was drawn in by the affordable price of $29 by the original manufacturer seller here on this site, but fell in love with the ease of use, quality, and gorgeous beauty of the fashionable fabric of this product. This a good ring sling for a beginning baby wearer! It is a hybrid sling with both some of the easier pouch sling qualities, but the adjustability of a ring sling. The partially closed tail makes it that you can't get the fabric twisted and tangled and makes it easy to thread. The sling edges is padded so the baby doesn't get red marks on his legs or head like the non-padded slings, but the padding is very light compared to other padded edged slings which normally are overwhelmingly thick and make you hot. The light padding actually goes through the rings unlike the padding of other padded slings which normally don't, making this sling as adjustable to as tightly small as you want to make it. Besides the light padding not being hot, the fabric was breathable for both the baby and me. Very important when you live in year long hot Florida like me.

Save yourself the hassle of a fixed sling and buy a sling that has adjustable rings (like an EZ-Sling) or a wrap that you can tighten/loosen as you please. Babies come in all shapes and sizes and when you have no options to adjust the sling you miss out on the magic of what makes a sling great - versatility and comfort.

Pros- Sling is cute and less bulky

Cons- Does not adjust therefore usage is extremely limited

Customer Review: Hotsling's Sizing chart not helpful

This is a great product and my wife loves it. However, I would recommend finding a local store to at least try it on first. The sizing chart that Hotslings provides does not seem to work for everyone. My wife is 5'9" and slender. I order one that according to the chart should fit my wife (we even measured her first to verify). We ended up having to go to the local store and purchasing a size bigger because the one that came, even though it should have been right, wasn't even close to fitting.

Customer Review: Look no hands

The sling is wonderful. I can hold the baby and cook dinner, do the dishes and type this review with both hands. I am a landscape painter and I have been using the sling to hold the baby while I am out painting.
My son is 6 weeks old now and will fall asleep in the sling with in minutes. It is a great way to calm him when he gets overwhelmed which usually happens towards the end of the day. He is close to me and I can even nurse him in the sling.
The sling came with a DVD showing different wearing positions and how to get the baby in and out of the sling comfortably which was very helpful. The sling does stretch out after a couple of wearings but if you throw it in the dryer after washing it shrinks back to the original size.

Customer Review: Couldn't live without it

My baby LOVES being in the sling. For 2 months, the only way I could get stuff done was to put her in it and wear it around the house! It's easier to carry her in the sling than it is to lug the heavy car seat around, particularly for short trips where you don't want to bother with the stroller, or when you're in stores whose shopping carts don't accomodate car seats. I get compliments on it all the time. Plus, my baby's just happier being close to me.
