I have a 3 1/2 month old baby who is a big guy 14 pounds. i work as a dog walker and the climate is very hot and humid. this carrier i bough after reading many reviews with some trepidation it was expensive and i was not sure it was exactly what i wanted. Upon arrival the carrier is perfect, it is completely custom adjustable and fits like a dream, baby is comfy and it is very easy to get him in and out even if he is sleeping.he did not sweat in it today despite it being 87 F and 78% humidity. i am super happy with =this purchase and will be recommending it to all my friends with babies or about to have babies. A must have on your registry list. I attachment parent and have 2 other baby carriers that i use but this one is by far the most comfortable and safe for me and my little man. even when on the uneven footing of the trails or stopping to "pick-up" after my canine friends

I purchased this baby sling because of its adjustable strap. I put my son in the pouch when he was a week old. We both loved it from the start. He is 13 months old and we still use it regularly. I was drawn in by the affordable price of $29 by the original manufacturer seller here on this site, but fell in love with the ease of use, quality, and gorgeous beauty of the fashionable fabric of this product. This a good ring sling for a beginning baby wearer! It is a hybrid sling with both some of the easier pouch sling qualities, but the adjustability of a ring sling. The partially closed tail makes it that you can't get the fabric twisted and tangled and makes it easy to thread. The sling edges is padded so the baby doesn't get red marks on his legs or head like the non-padded slings, but the padding is very light compared to other padded edged slings which normally are overwhelmingly thick and make you hot. The light padding actually goes through the rings unlike the padding of other padded slings which normally don't, making this sling as adjustable to as tightly small as you want to make it. Besides the light padding not being hot, the fabric was breathable for both the baby and me. Very important when you live in year long hot Florida like me.

This was delivered while I was feeding little Nathan. I told him that a cool package had arrived and promised him we would open it after he was done eating. I swore up an down that he would love it and lo and behold, as soon as I put him in it he totally got chill and he's half asleep now as I write this. I am so glad I decided on this sling. I tried 2 others: the INfantino Sling rider (Which only satisfied my newborn for a week) and the HotSling, too stiff and no adjustable straps. I ordered this solely based on the picture and that it's endorsed by Dr. Sears. I got lucky - this sling has been a GOD SEND! IT's my baby's favorite way to sleep. She was very colic-y from the beginning and this was the only way to calm her down and get her to sleep. We would swaddle her and get her in. We'd even lay her down after falling asleep safely in the sling still into her crib. It's been perfect! I'm still using it with her at 7 mos. True, if you have back problems, it's prob not going to be a positive experience for you. Also, baby may not take to the sling right at first, but keep trying it and she'll eventually cozy into it. Take this sling shopping with you, to church, to friends, restaurants - it's perfect for nestling baby so she feels safe. And you can try other positions and styles of wearing it as your baby grows. I rec. getting Dr. Sear's Baby Book as a companion to show different baby-wearing methods that work with this sling.

Why doesn't every mother have one of these??!

This thing is GREAT. Better than the Snugli or other items similar to that. In the sling, the baby's entire body, not just the trunk, is cradled against you, sort of like in the womb. It actually looks uncomfortable for the baby, but mine sleeps quite soundly in it.

Not only is it comfortable for both you and baby, there's enough material to provide a covering for nursing, unlike the snugli types.

It also provides mom with hands-free mobility.

And it's SO SO SO much better than lugging around a two-ton car seat! The baby is quite secure without additional support of any kind. It does take some getting used to. It took a while to figure out the right position for both carrying and nursing. So if you buy one, don't be discouraged if you can't figure it out right away. You'll love this thing!

it looks great BUT...

my baby just hated this. i tried it one way, then another, and i just felt that it holds the baby kind of awkwardly...i got an extra large, and it was kinda small....my baby at the time was 10pounds, and she got seriously pissed off every time i tried to get her in there...she was totally fine with the baby bjorn...but at 18pounds the baby bjorn is super snug (she is a VERY healthy 4month old now) so i can't even use that. i finally found the solution with the Ergo Baby Carrier...i like how the weight is distributed on the baby's bum....as opposed to the crotch area for the baby bjorn...check it out...it is wort the investment

Wish I had this sling when my baby was a newborn

Our son seemed to be the kind of baby who would have been feeling snuggly and secure if we had this when he was a newborn. It seemed as though, because he was not used to being carried in it from the first few weeks, he seemed to be a little bit Claustrophobic in it. By the time we got it he had grown so much bigger and my wife was not able to nurse him in it the way it is suggested for newborns. We will definately be keeping it for our next child, though.

Customer Review: Great for baby, not so good for Dad

What would I do without my Hotsling? My 9 week old baby has loved the closeness of being in the sling from the very beginning. When she fusses, this is the only sure way to get her calm and sleeping. With her cuddled up close to me in the sling, I can get work done around the house, go shopping or take a walk. My baby isn't comfortable in the Baby Bjorn yet, so the sling is an absolute lifesaver.
There are a couple drawbacks of this sling:

1. It is not comfortable to wear for long periods of time. After an hour or so, my back is starting to hurt.

2. It is not adjustable, so my husband can't use it, and it was a little tight in the winter when we were wearing big coats and wrapping the baby in blankets. I recommend ordering a size larger than you think you need - I am 5'2"/120 lbs and the size 3 is just right.

Next time, I might try an adjustable sling so that my husband and I can both use it.

Customer Review: Beware*** Back & Shoulder Pain

I bought this and paid around $40.00. I love the look and idea but this thing kills my back and shoulder. We didn't last one wal-mart trip. I couldn't imagine someone trying to make the day in it. I don't feel the hip carry is very safe and that is the only way my daughter would go for. If you bent over far enough she could slip out and walking up right I had to constantly ajust and my arm would go numb from the preasure on my shoulder because there is no way to have it close to your neck,,ouch

Customer Review: Love this Sling

This sling has been a lifesaver at church. I have 5 children, two which are a newborn and a 22 month old, and to be able to have my hands free during church is wonderful. I also had a great experience when I went to get her pku, she slept right through the whole thing, it was great!! It works well at the movie theater too. The newborn also loves it and sleeps so soundly when she is in it. I like how this sling fits and how you can adjust it as the baby grows. I really recommend this sling.

I absolutely love this product! It's a nice fit for my son and is a hands-free way to carry him around when we shop or I want to get some things done around the house and he wants to be held. He's a big baby (22 lbs at 7 months), but this is comfy for both of us and he even takes naps if in it for a longer period of time. I would recommend this to anyone! There is no strain on the back and minimal strain on shoulder (and only if worn more than an hour or two). Love it!!!

Customer Review: Good sling - but choose size carefully!

I have two Peanut Shell slings -- one regular cotton and one microfleece. They're beautifully made and seem like a great concept, although my son isn't a huge fan of them. He's big for his age (two months) and complains all the time he's in there, despite being properly adjusted.

One cautionary note about the microfleece sling -- the sizing. According to the Peanut Shell charts I need a Medium sling, and indeed in the *regular cotton* sling, the Medium is a perfect size for me. However, the microfleece sling stretches tremendously once the baby is in it, making the sling *too large*. Suddenly it hangs way down, so that my legs bump it when I walk! Not the intended effect!

So if you're ordering the Peanut Shell in microfleece, I'd suggest choosing one size SMALLER than your recommended size. Otherwise you'll end up, like me, with a sling you can't use...

Customer Review: The best sling ever!!

I like sleek and simple baby products and got this in the black microfleece. Great sling! My baby and I like how we can use this from birth to 36 pounds in different positions. I've been toting him around in it from when he was about a month old. He didn't like it in the beginning, but I think it's just my baby--it takes 3 to 4 tries of a new product before he likes anything. I like how I can keep this one on all the time, blends in with the black shirts I wear and then I can pop baby in and out whenever I'd like to carry him. Make sure you have the correct size. I had the wrong size in the beginning and the fabric was digging into my shoulder and neck, and my arm would go numb. I walked outside everyday of my maternity leave with baby in it and everyone would comment on how cute and stylish the Peanut Shell Sling is. I like how it doesn't have any hardware and I can stick it in any of my bags when we travel. Love, love, love this and my Belle Baby Carrier!

I was drawn in by the affordable price of $29 by the original manufacturer seller here on this site, but fell in love with the ease of use, quality, and gorgeous beauty of the fashionable fabric of this product. This a good ring sling for a beginning baby wearer! It is a hybrid sling with both some of the easier pouch sling qualities, but the adjustability of a ring sling. The partially closed tail makes it that you can't get the fabric twisted and tangled and makes it easy to thread. The sling edges is padded so the baby doesn't get red marks on his legs or head like the non-padded slings, but the padding is very light compared to other padded edged slings which normally are overwhelmingly thick and make you hot. The light padding actually goes through the rings unlike the padding of other padded slings which normally don't, making this sling as adjustable to as tightly small as you want to make it. Besides the light padding not being hot, the fabric was breathable for both the baby and me. Very important when you live in year long hot Florida like me.

Save yourself the hassle of a fixed sling and buy a sling that has adjustable rings (like an EZ-Sling) or a wrap that you can tighten/loosen as you please. Customer Review: Hotsling's Sizing chart not helpful

This is a great product and my wife loves it. However, I would recommend finding a local store to at least try it on first. The sizing chart that Hotslings provides does not seem to work for everyone. My wife is 5'9" and slender. I order one that according to the chart should fit my wife (we even measured her first to verify). We ended up having to go to the local store and purchasing a size bigger because the one that came, even though it should have been right, wasn't even close to fitting.

Customer Review: Look no hands

The sling is wonderful. I can hold the baby and cook dinner, do the dishes and type this review with both hands. I am a landscape painter and I have been using the sling to hold the baby while I am out painting.
My son is 6 weeks old now and will fall asleep in the sling with in minutes. It is a great way to calm him when he gets overwhelmed which usually happens towards the end of the day. He is close to me and I can even nurse him in the sling.
The sling came with a DVD showing different wearing positions and how to get the baby in and out of the sling comfortably which was very helpful. The sling does stretch out after a couple of wearings but if you throw it in the dryer after washing it shrinks back to the original size.

Customer Review: Couldn't live without it

My baby LOVES being in the sling. For 2 months, the only way I could get stuff done was to put her in it and wear it around the house! It's easier to carry her in the sling than it is to lug the heavy car seat around, particularly for short trips where you don't want to bother with the stroller, or when you're in stores whose shopping carts don't accomodate car seats. I get compliments on it all the time. Plus, my baby's just happier being close to me.

I wish I had this before my daughter was born. I used a snugli front carrier until she was about six months old, then she got too heavy for it and the straps hurt me too much to use it anymore. This is so much more comfortable, once you get the hang of it, which really doesn't take long. Plus, there's no complicated straps to adjust, and it's easy to tighten/loosen it with the baby inside. I was ready to send it back after the first time I wore it, but I sent them an email and they gave me some pointers on how to adjust it comfortably, and now we use it everyday. Now, at ten months, I make the loop very small and put it under her arms so she can "walk" all by herself (much easier on your back since you don't have to bend over. The fabric is really beautiful and the quality is great(I've washed it twice).I get compliments whenever I wear it. Like I said, I wish I had this sling from the beginning beacause there are so many different ways to carry the baby in it, it really does grow with your child. I would really reccomend this to anyone expecting, it doesn't take much practice to wear it comfortably, but it does take some patience. Read the instructions on their website before you give up! It's worth it! P.S. I'm not particulary thin or short, but I still had to weave the padded part of the straps through the loop to make it snug enough, so this is plenty big for a larger-built person.

Customer Review: Fabulous! Especially great for c section moms.

I love my peanut shell. I tried a lot of slings before this one including the hotsling and moby wrap but none worked for me. I had an emergency c section and the other slings hurt my scar but not the peanut shell! It's extremely easy to use and comfortable. It's also easy to move around and adjust so it won't touch your scar while it's healing. My son is 4.5 months now and still loving it. This was by far the best thing I bought for my baby.

I LOVE my hotsling!!! I had a Baby Bjorn and couldn't use it for long because my back started to hurt too much. When I switch to the hotslings, my back didn't hurt as much and I liked how my daughter was more secure to my body. I wish I had discovered about these carriers earlier so that I could have used it when my daughter was just a newborn. Most of the other carriers can't be used until the baby is a little older. Such a great carrier, and I love the photo on this listing showing it being used as a makeshift toddler "leash". What a great idea. So much more practical than having to bring a separate backpack leash, and much safer than letting you toddler run amuck (and possibly into danger)!

Customer Review: Comfy & Versatile

Great sling! Very helpful when my son still needs to be held and my arms are about to fall off. Shoulder padding is comfortable for mom. I have used it with my 3 month old facing me & facing out. There are also several other ways it can be used which are shown in the pamphlet that comes with it. I am short and I agonized over which sling to buy. This one is great since it is adjustable it fits me well no matter how I use it. The only thing that could be improved is the ease of adjusting the strap while it's on. The padding around the pouch is great for the baby, but makes it hard to pull through the two rings to adjust. Just takes some getting used to and planning. I'm getting better already in just a couple of uses.

I am so glad I decided on this sling. I tried 2 others: the INfantino Sling rider (Which only satisfied my newborn for a week) and the HotSling, too stiff and no adjustable straps. I ordered this solely based on the picture and that it's endorsed by Dr. Sears. I got lucky - this sling has been a GOD SEND! IT's my baby's favorite way to sleep. She was very colic-y from the beginning and this was the only way to calm her down and get her to sleep. We would swaddle her and get her in. We'd even lay her down after falling asleep safely in the sling still into her crib. It's been perfect! I'm still using it with her at 7 mos. True, if you have back problems, it's prob not going to be a positive experience for you. Also, baby may not take to the sling right at first, but keep trying it and she'll eventually cozy into it. Take this sling shopping with you, to church, to friends, restaurants - it's perfect for nestling baby so she feels safe. And you can try other positions and styles of wearing it as your baby grows. I rec. getting Dr. Sear's Baby Book as a companion to show different baby-wearing methods that work with this sling.

I LOVE this product!! I was hesitant about using it at first...I was afraid that the baby would not be secure, but it has become a life saver. It's so nice to be able to have my baby so close and still have both hands free (i'm actually typing this with my son in the sling). As soon as I put him in, he immediately falls asleep...he's so comfy and cozy. PERFECT for a colicy baby. And the straps are so wide and padded that it's comfortable for me too.

My only complaint ( the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5) is that I'm only 5'2" and the sling hangs a bit low on me, more at waist level than chest level. The only other problem I had was that my son was only 5lbs8oz when born, so he kind of got lost in the bottom of the sling, I needed to place folded blankets in the bottom before I put him in. But now he's about 7 lbs and it is perfect.

This would be a perfect shower gift!

I purchased this from the store just before closing time because I was desperate to have something right away to give me some amount of "freedom" with my then 1 week old daughter. I was happy to see that all I had to do was open the box, put the sling on, and put baby in...NOT! My baby fit all the way in, like putting her in the bottom of a plastic shopping bag or a duffle bag. Not only that, the sling has very little structure to it...it feels incredibly flimsy, especially once baby is inside. My daughter cried and I was just as disturbed. What to do? Fold it back up, return it to the box, and return the box to the store!

Customer Review: My favorite carrier so far

Ok, we now have 4 ways to tote our toddler on our bodies & this is my current favorite. I had wanted a sling from the start, but couldn't find one I liked. Other rings slings have this massive "tail" that drove me nuts. The Peanut Shell brand is beautiful, but expensive. Hotslings were too size specific (my husband I would have each needed our own). I went with the Moby & then the Bjorn Active while our son was tiny.

When I started carrying him on my hip, I revisited the sling idea & found this one at a local store. It is perfect! Adjustable, neat & comfy. The rails are padded so they don't cut into his legs. The "tail" is just a strip of fabric, not a whole, giant bed sheet. It has a sort of toggle on the end that tucks neatly into a strip of fabric to keep the tail from hanging down. There are 2 little pockets on the outside for keys or change (not too useful, but once in a while they come in handy). I love the fabric & the other 2 or 3 patterns are also very nice and maybe more gender neutral (for dads who care). We've used it constantly for 5 months & it has held up very well. I keep it in the car.

One caveat about slings in general: if you have a bad back or poor posture, think twice before carrying your baby in a sling. It does not distribute weight well. I use this one to free up my hands when I would ordinarily be carrying him on my hip anyway. If I wear him in it for long periods of time, I definitely feel "outta-whack." And my son is 19 pounds at 1 year (shrimpy).

That said, if I had found this sling first, I might not have bought another carrier.
