To measure from shoulder to hip: use a soft tape measure and start at the outer corner of your shoulder and measure diagonally across your body down to your hip bone. I absolutely love this product! It's a nice fit for my son and is a hands-free way to carry him around when we shop or I want to get some things done around the house and he wants to be held. He's a big baby (22 lbs at 7 months), but this is comfy for both of us and he even takes naps if in it for a longer period of time. I would recommend this to anyone! There is no strain on the back and minimal strain on shoulder (and only if worn more than an hour or two). Love it!!!
